I stopped in my local bank the other day for my once a month cash disbursement. As the teller was counting out my money, I commented that I do this every month to fill up my envelopes that help me with my home budgeting. She said, “I’ve heard of that! …Does it work?” “Yes” I said, “I was really struggling to keep track of our finances and this method really helps me stay in budget, save and pay things off.” “Oh man,” she said. “I need that. My credit cards are killing me!”

“What,” I said (probably too loud)… “But you work in a bank!?!” “I know,” she whispered with some shame.

Solomon, the richest man alive at the time, pondered, “Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins!” (Ecc 7.20) And he’s still right—especially in the area of personal finances. The struggle is all too real for many of us trying to make it these days.

We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan! It teaches God’s ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small group activities, FPU presents biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you’ve dreamed you could be. This plan will show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more!

Restoration believes that we are called to Live Out of God’s Story of restoration in the community of good friends, rather than suffer alone. Money, along with marriage and relationships, are one of our main areas where discipleship is needed.

We have been made right with God because of our faith. Now we have peace with him because of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through faith in Jesus we have received God’s grace. In that grace we stand. We are full of joy because we expect to share in God’s glory. And that’s not all. We are full of joy even when we suffer. We know that our suffering gives us the strength to go on. The strength to go on produces character. Character produces hope. And hope will never bring us shame. That’s because God’s love has been poured into our hearts.
