I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. [John 10vs14-15]
Some say sheep are dumb. (Some might say they’re delicious!) But what we can say positively about sheep is that they are generally obedient.
Jesus said on the last day that mankind would separated like goats from sheep. (Matthew 25:31-46) Think for a second about sheep. They are generally docile creatures. They are soft and gentle. Often, they are responsive to the calls and promptings of their shepherd.
Goats on the other hand, are often stereotyped as being stubborn and having insatiable appetites. Remember those cartoon goats who would eat everything in sight? (Can they really chew tin cans?)
So you have simple, loving obedience modeled in the sheep. And you have self-focused consumerism represented in the goats.
What would you say more accurately represents your walk? Are you generally obedient to the promptings of the Holy Spirit? Or do you tend to consume whatever is in front of you?
