Jesus said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always here. [John 7v6]
In the Christian life, we talk a lot about “glorifying” God but few of us have a real understanding of what that means. Glory is the visible manifestation of the unseen God. While we can’t behold God, we can see His glory everywhere, if we have eyes to see.
We can also bring glory to Him or glorify Him to the world. Like in Psalm 86:12, it’s written, “I will give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart. And I will glorify Your Name forever.” The writer is saying basically, because You are so amazing, I will live such passion and gratitude that everyone around me will know of You.
We glorify God by revealing Him to the world. We are a city on the hill and light that should not be hidden away.
Like many candles on the cake of an older person, we shine brightest when close to others. We glorify the Lord more when we are deeply engaged in the community of the local church.
Jesus promised to return. And on that day, all the world will see and He will be fully glorified. But His time is not yet. Our time to shine is now.
