Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way. [John 4v50]
Faith is a slippery thing. It’s hard to describe and easy to fall out of. So often we want the concrete, indisputable proof that God’s Story is true, but where God has us, faith is required.
Strangely, faith is formed in brokenness. When the mold of our trust in ourselves and others falls apart, that is where you’ll find faith. It’s very rare that someone would win the lottery and on that day, also find Christ. We aren’t wired to call on the Lord in times of good fortune. It will most often be those times when we need help that we respond to God’s gracious presence.
The man who spoke to Jesus in the passage above was desperate and had nowhere else to turn. He reached out to Jesus and received relief. His son was healed. What are you most anxious about right now? Are you ready to reach out to Jesus and have faith that He can bring healing and restoration?
